I am finally free. A whole month of playing The Sims 3 again for the first time in literal years. Enjoyed it a lot. But now it's time for me to move on.

I've always been your fan, for I absolutely adore your historical creations! And the historical DR mods are brilliant too! In any case, I wanted to ask you a question: do you know of objects befitting a historical world that can replace the eyesore Modern burglar and fire alarm? And is there a hot cocoa machine that's not Modern and would fit in a historical world? (Hot cocoa was popular like in Colonial Williamsburg's Charlton's Coffee House.) I've been searching for my project with no luck. :(

There are lots of historical, or simply unobtrusive, fire-alarms, most of them on TSR. I’m linking you to the search results, as this compiles them most conveniently (along with several alarm clocks). Plus this one, which didn’t show up in the search…

Burglar alarms are rarer, for some reason. Literally the only one I found yet is the Steampunk burglar alarm by ShinoKCR, also on TSR.

But there’s this mod called Transmogrifier, which should allow you to change any object into an alarm in game.

For hot cocoa I’ve been using the Store’s steampunk beverage machine almost exclusively until now; sometimes also those from Supernatural and World adventures. There’s also one by ShinoKCR. (They had a huge collaborative steampunk project on TSR some years ago, which is a treasure-trove of Victorianish objects and clothing.) And there’s a medieval one, if you want to go very far back :)

Actually I really wish hot beverages in the Sime 3 had some more cosy feeling to them - incidentally I’m a great fan of hot cocoa myself. There’s a number of mods on MTS, to make coffee and other beverages more realist and convenient in game, but as yet I haven’t figured out how to tweak them so I’ll get all my favourite features at once (some use the same tuning). Now that you mention it, a mod that would make Sims heat milk for hot cocoa on the stove would be pure awesomeness, but that would require scripting :/

3. What is the best fandom you’veever been involved in?  I can’tpick just one!  XF was my realintroduction to writing and to online fandom; Sime/Gen included very kindpeople who were supportive of my early Mary Sue fantasies; Star Trek was thebig grandmommy that introduced me to zines; Smallville was where I started totake more risks and even tried my hand at vidding; Supernatural has outlastedXF, which is bizarre.  At every turn, I’vebeen surrounded by generous fellow fans.

 Current: 15. Is there an obscure shipwhich you love?  Not particularlyobscure, but Dean/Donna is comfy.  Iwouldn’tmind more Sam/Dean/witch twins, either.

 23. Name a fic you’vewritten that you’re especially fond of & explainwhy you like it.  Rough Riders, because Ithink it does effectively use sex to advance character development/narrative—thesespecific people are having sex.  I think Vagabondage is like that,too.

 44. What ship do you feel needs moreattention?  In general, I really likethreesomes.  Annie/Auggie/Eyal fromCovert Affairs; D’avin/Johnny/Dutch from Killjoys;etc.  I have a secret love for RiverTam/Jayne Cobb and for Ainsley Hayes/Sam Seaborn: please don’tjudge me.
